Mookie post partum vs. Black Tail Deer

On our morning walk this deer out of nowhere attacked our two week post partum Mookie. She is trained not to chase cows, deer, etc. so momentarily was taken back. She proceeded to ram her head into it’s side sending it tumbling down the hillside. In retrospect I think the deer was suffering from a wasting disease.

Pacific Gopher Snake #2

This guy was under the same piece of wood as the king snake.

Encountered this guy doing fall clean up. He wasn’t a bit happy. Less so were the nest of rattlers I got into cleaning up the wood pile. I also disturbed six huge Norwegian rats courtesy of the old ships that landed in Cayucos and San Simeon.
